Vale, Corim Erik

Name: Vale, Corim Erik

Aliases: The Fighting Sage

Inspired by: Will Greenway

Appears in: Shaladen Chronicles: A Knot in Time, Shaladen Chronicles: Anvil of Sorrow, Shaladen Chronicles: Who Mourns the Creator, Gaea's Legacy

Occupation: Professional Tournament Competitor, Teacher

Birthplace: Demishel province, Kingdom of Ironwood

Hair: Dark Brown

Eyes: Brown

Height: 6'3"

Weight: 260

Unusual Features: Corim has a row of circular scars across his chest put there by a run-in with a green dragon.

Age: 29

Martial Status: Unmarried

Known Relatives: Dedric Vale (father) [deceased], Nalla Vale (mother) [deceased]

Group Affiliations: Protectorate, Jhandris'Kul Myrmigyne tribe, House Felspar, House Frielos, Falorian school of fighting, Ivaneth Guild of Sages

Magical Skills: Corim does not himself have any magical skills. However, in the events following Shaladen Chronicles: A Knot in Time, Corim's soul becomes intertwined with the spirit and intellect of Aarlen Frielos, the Ice Falcon-- one of the most powerful mages in the Realms. This mind-spirit-share grants him significant magical powers that are at least half those of the original Aarlen. Unfortunately, tapping into those abilities is somewhat complicated and 'icky' as Corim describes it. Also, when he does it-- Aarlen can 'feel' him do it. The big scary Territaani tyrant lady doesn't LIKE it. So, only in extremis does he tap into that knowledge.

Aside from the magic he knows through his association with the Ice Falcon. Corim is an extremely well read sage, and familiar with a great number of magical phenomena. His knowledge of such things is only the broad strokes, and his awareness rarely benefits him beyond knowing whether something is potentially dangerous.

Corim also possesses a pseudo-magical (psionic?) talent called metapathy which allows him to project emotions (and sensory) into others. To a certain degree it also allows him to specifically mirror or sense the emotional state of another person. When Corim first developed this power he was "inverting" the emotions of others-- projecting the opposite emotion of what people were currently feeling; calm people became angry, despairing people become ardent, etc. Later, Corim gained a measure of control and it doesn't work without his knowledge.

Tournament Rank: Corim is exhibition warrior with 411 bouts of experience in the 'local talent' tournaments around the continent of Sharikaar. He has not (yet) participated in the All-Worlds events where the competition and talent are far more challenging. He has fought blooded Death Spectacle pit fighters. So, it's safe to assume at that time he would have held his own in the 10th circle. Corim trained extensively with Beia Targallae, so it can only be assumed his skills have improved. Corim is rather magic "poor" so, he will need more adventuring and experience before he could compete at the 12th and higher circles of All-world's competition.

Information: Corim Vale, sometimes known as the "Fighting Sage". Is a wandering tournment competitor and professional treasure hunter. His tournament earnings and treasure hunting go to fund his studies and teaching endeavors. Corim embraces the way of Mataya, the philosophy of the Lore Knights, an order of "enlightened" warriors who follow a form chivalric code that involves the defense of the weak and spread of knowledge.

Corim is a talented fighter, and a singular intellect. He speaks five languages (Common, Gray (Noble) Elvish, High (Common) Elvish, Dwarven, and Draconic), additionally he reads Silissian and Runes Arcanis (a common magical symbol language). Corim is always curious and full of questions. He is a "thinking" warrior and has no great love or instinct for battle. It is his smarts and determination, however, that have always won fights for him.

Corim is considered extremely handsome and many women are attracted to him. His metapathic talent only increases this trait. The only problem for Corim is he only appears to be attractive to the women he doesn't want to court. As a result, he has the amorous attentions of Senalloy Corresont, Annawen Felspar, and several other "mortal" women on various worlds who would pursue him if they could. Corim is currently infatuated with Dulcere Starbinder, a Kriar with considerably more on her mind than pursuing a relationship...

Yggdrasil, Idun

Name: Yggdrasil, Idun

Aliases: Nonna, Rina, General of 100 armies, Tieshu Yggdrasil, Idun-heika, Shishou Dan Juichi

Inspired by: Will Greenway

Appears in: Savant's Blood: Hecate's Bounty, Savant's Blood: Aesir's Blood, Savant's Blood: Gaea's Blood, Reality's Plaything, Reality's Plaything: 'Neath Odin's Eye, Reality's Plaything: The Infinity Annihilator, Ethermancer: Consort of the War Goddess, Ethermancer: The Shape Stealer Conspiracy, Shaladen Chronicles: Who Mourns The Creator

Occupation: Military leader and strategist, Adventurer

Birthplace: Yggdraheim, Rautakäden Stronghold

Hair: Gold

Eyes: Blue

Height: *varies: 6'4" 7'10

Weight: *varies 400lbs 600lbs

Unusual Features: As a pantheon progenitor, Idun has immense innate natural power augmented by demi-urge (worship). Since Idun's following has diminished, she is "less" potent but still capable of staggering physical and magical feats. She can alter her shape at will (she has various named identities), she can conjure and summon items with little concentration, and is able to teleport over vast distances as long as she knows the destination. As with most greater gods she has the ability to assume "battle-form". In this physical configuration the tissue of the body takes on a "metalized" state making her resistant to nearly all forms of conventional injury. The organs of the body go into a form of stasis and even deep penetrations into the metal shell have limited effect (a stab through the heart for instance will not kill her-- though when she changes back to flesh and blood the injury might do so.) Gods cannot naturally heal or be healed by either magical or technical means while in battle-form. The battle-form is extremely inconvenient. While the user is incredibly strong (usually able to lift ten tons or more), it takes a great deal of energy, the body is inflexible, has no feeling and is very slow. Because of the great mass (the user typically weighs a few tons or more), most floors and furniture will not support a person in battle-form. Battle-form cannot be retained while asleep.

Age: 60,000+

Martial Status: Engaged (Daedalus Silvarron)

Known Relatives: Nord Yggdrasil (brother deceased), Daela Yggdrasil (sister deceased), Odin (nephew), Bragi Odinson (ex-husband), Hiramasa Orenraki (fiance deceased), Millicent Njordheim (adopted daughter), Euriel Idundaughter-Kergatha (daughter), Vanidaar Kergatha (son-in-law), Azir Kergatha (grandson), Liandra "Wren" Kergatha (grandaughter), Daedalus Silvarron (fiance)

Group Affiliations: Aesir Council, Pantheon Council, All-Worlds Tournament, Clan Hiramasa, Clan Dwoden, Protectorate, Clan Felspar, Clan Solaris, Clan T'Evagduran, Ring Realms Magocracy

Magical Skills: Idun possesses vast magical abilities achieved from many millennia of life. She is adept at an array of offensive and defensive war magics, and innumerable utility magics and conveniences. Most of these feats are mere acts of desire or some minor amount of concentration. She favors physical combat over ranged, and will only use battle magic to intimidate or manipulate enemies into more direct confrontation. Idun has a special magical ability that will "smite" any opponent who fights in a dishonorable way (striking from stealth for example).

Tournament Rank: Idun is 12th circle unlimited class competitor. She ranks in the 4th and highest tier reserved for elder beings and "specials". Few creatures aside from other war gods, Eternals, Kriar, and Chyrith pose any threat to her.

Information:
Origin and Early Life:Idun originated from the Yggdrasil clan, described as the oldest and most powerful clan of pantheon lords to settle in Gladshiem. This clan had long ruled tyrannically over the Aesir and Vanir, bringing much shame and misery upon them. Idun is the only survivor of this clan. While her specific physical birthplace is not stated, she was hidden in the dark heart of Svartalfheim after her younger sister, Daela, was killed [1, 18, 65, Conversation]. She referred to the cave she dug and hid in there as her "birthgrave".
Gaining Immortality and Raising Odin: It was in Svartalfheim, specifically in the lightless roots of the core realm, that Idun uncovered the well of vitality and the fruits of immortality. She and the orphan Odin (son of her deceased sister Daela) grew strong by dining on this magical elixir. Idun raised Odin as her own. Hiding in Svartalfheim was also where she "became dead to her clan and its leader, her brother Nord".
Turning on her Clan and Revenge: Due to personal differences between herself and her elder brother (Nord), who was the clan leader, over their younger sister (Daela), Idun turned on her blood clan. She swore vengeance on Nord. She secretly slipped into Vanaheim, offering the golden revitalizing fruits and asking clan Vanir for aid. She struck a deal to free the Vanir's captive children held by the Yggdrasil house if the Vanir would fight Nord. She returned to Asgard and made the same arrangement with the Aesir, who also agreed.
The Fall of Yggdrasil: Idun left Odin with Borr's kin to plan their attack and returned to the house of Yggdrasil. She freed the captive children and opened the golden gates of Gladshiem. Odin, leading the Aesir and Vanir, who were strengthened by Idun's fruit, then laid waste to Yggdrasil and ended their line. Only vengeful Idun remained, possessing a hard heart and the secret of golden vitality.
Aftermath and Difficult Relationship with Odin: As the warrior who led them to freedom, Odin was made the high father of the Aesir. Idun, despite freeing the Aesir and Vanir, was still reviled for the clan of her birth and mistrusted due to her willingness to betray her family. As a result, Idun was forced to shelter under Odin's auspices to avoid conflict. This arrangement was barely tolerable and became worse when Odin insisted she marry his son, Bragi, to retain the clan-head's protection.
Self-Exile and Wanderings: Eventually, Idun grew strong enough in her own right that she didn't need Odin's protections. She dumped Bragi and committed herself to self-exile. She wandered for some millennia, pretending to be mortal and fighting for various armies and causes.
Relationship with Hiramasa Orenraki: During her exile, she became romantically involved with Hiramasa Orenraki, a G'yaki master of great renown. She trained under him, reaching the rank of shishou dan juichi. She gained deep knowledge of the G'yaki, their history (back to the G'narth), and their shikatas. Their relationship tragically ended swiftly due to a jissentenki rebellion; Hiramasa was forced to take his own life to retain honor. Idun exposed the perpetrator but couldn't bring back her lost love. She still carries proof of her dou with clan Orenraki and uses a dagger associated with Hiramasa.
Grief and Euriel's Birth: Idun went on a decades-long grief bender, damaging armies and the balance of power. It was during this time that she met the teritaani mercenary Baelish, resulting in a pregnancy. She became the mother of Euriel Kergatha. Baelish struggled with the responsibility of a demi-god child, grew apart from Idun, and disappeared, later reported to have committed suicide.
Return to Gladshiem and the All-World's Tournament: With the responsibility of her daughter Euriel, Idun returned to Gladshiem and tried to live quietly. Euriel grew up among the Chosen Valkyries who respected Idun. Idun created the All-World's Tournament as entertainment.
Becoming a Grandmother: At the tournament, Euriel met Vanidaar Kergatha; they fell in love and had children. This made Idun the grandmother of Liandra Kergatha (Wren) and Azir Kergatha. Her grandchildren call her "Nonna," a nickname she prefers.
Renewed Conflict with Odin: Odin's actions (such as giving her assignments in slow-time pockets after the "incident" involving Euriel and Bragi) caused Idun to lose significant time with her growing family. Later, Odin imprisoned her family in Nifelheim, ostensibly for Hecate's death (which Euriel was involved in), but Idun sees it as revenge for past slights, particularly the humiliation of Bragi. This has led Idun to plan an offensive against Odin and his pantheon to free her family.
Current Status and Relationships: Idun is a powerful progenitor and goddess of immortality. She is currently engaged to Dae Silvarron and hopes to have children with him. She commands a large retinue of three thousand Valkyr. She has a deep understanding of and relationships with certain G'yaki individuals and clans, leveraging her rank from Hiramasa. T'Gor uses the nickname "Rina" for her. She is perceived by Gaea as a "step-daughter". She is known for a war-like nature, immense power, and the ability to shift shapes. She has a complicated relationship with the Pantheon Council, who view her as a rogue element. She is fiercely protective of her family.
